The Learning Environment – General Course information.
Reasonable Accommodation. QSI Training is committed to a policy of equal opportunity in education and to ensuring that Learners with special needs have complete access to all aspects of the Learning environment as can be reasonably provided. Applicants who may have special requirements should contact QSI Training.
Course locations: Courses are delivered as per the course timetable in the specified location. Learners who are booked on a course will be notified of the venue along with any other instructions.
Trainers: Our Trainers are subject experts and the best in the industry, both technically qualified and highly experienced in the awards area.
Accreditation: The appropriate FETAC Level is identified in the course calendar and course brochures.
Assessment: Assessment: are set out in the course brochures and the award specification. The Learner is reminded that assignments must be completed before dates set out by the course tutor for submission to FETAC.
Examination Policy: In awards where a written examination is required – this is generally held at the end of the course. Learners who fail an examination and need to re-sit are invited to attend the course and re-sit the examination. Exam repeats are charged at a nominal €30.
Assignments and Project work: The Course Tutor will explain the specific arrangements and requirements. Work based assignments and project work must be the authentic work of the Learner and must include references to any materials and support received. This work must be supervised and certified as the authentic work of the Learner seeking the award. Assignments must be submitted by a date set by the Course Tutor and acknowledged by the Learner. A copy must be kept by the Learner and if requested, provide same to QSI Training if required. Late returns will be penalised as follows:
1 week late : 10% deduction from marks. After that late assignments will not be accepted for that period.
Learner Responsibilities
Learners must familiarise themselves with the following documents: a. Course Specifications and Course brochures. b. Appeals Procedures. c. The regulations and procedures set out here.
In particular, candidates must be familiar with the relevant: a. Assessment schedule for the particular programme. b. Penalties for work submitted late. c. Procedures for seeking an extension due to mitigating circumstances. d. Assessment criteria used to mark submitted work. e. Guidelines for referencing and acknowledging work.
Candidates must: a. Ensure that they are correctly registered on programmes b. Ensure that they are correctly entered for examinations c. Attend examinations, practicals etc d. Complete all project work and learner work as required e. Seek permission from Tutor where absence from course will occur due to mitigating circumstances and notify QSI Training in writing of reasons for absence from class tests, practicals etc. (supplying relevant documentary evidence). Every effort will be made to bring the individual Learner up to date with course work due to an absence. f. Immediately notify the Course Tutor in writing of extenuating circumstances that have impeded their examination/assessment performance. g. Comply with any course and QSI Training requirements for receipting work h. Retain a copy of submitted work where possible. i. Retain any receipts for submitted work.
It is the responsibility of candidates to check course dates, times and venues for the course.
Results There is a results approval system for all awards and these will be downloaded to FETAC – see key dates (pdf document).
Appeals: An appeal may be lodged within two weeks of the grades being awarded. In this instance an independent examiner will re-check the paper. If an appeal is upheld and a new grade awarded, this will be notified to FETAC. The result of the appeal will be communicated to the Learner at the earliest opportunity.
